From The Gazebo

Gazebo DvZ is updated regularly with gameplay changes, new features, bug fixes and quality of life improvements. This page lists significant additions and changes which affect gameplay or user experience, but generally does not list bug fixes, small tweaks, or behind-the-scenes changes which aren't noticeable in-game. You can also read about updates in the announcements channel on our community Discord server. Note that changes listed on this page may have been superseded by subsequent updates.

  • New Quest: Finders Keepers
  • Simplified Wiggly Wrenches
    • Instantly restore missing armor
    • Base usefulness is halved if an armor piece is missing
    • Using a wrench while all armor is present will function normally
    • Letting the mana bar cast to max will fully repair even if a piece is missing
  • Venomburners, Blaze Cannons and Death's Servant now display some stats to you when you die
  • Fixed fire skeletons being able to shotgun dwarves to deal large amounts of damage

October 2019

  • Reinstated Lord's doubled scavenger, as base scavenger chance is now 30%
  • Mortar will now overwrite rat blocks if it turns the target block blue
  • Creepers will no longer turn podzol into gravel
  • Explosions (fireballs, explosive arrows) will no longer destroy non-degradable blocks, bringing them more in line with creeper explosions
  • Two new items have been added to the Dwarven Strongbox
  • The horn sound will play when the countdown begins to alert players who were tabbed out
  • A sound now plays when the shrine shield has been destroyed early

2019-10-12

  • First shrines are now shielded throughout the first night (increased duration from 60s)
  • Adjusted scavenger rates and removed per-player starting gold
  • Death's Servant changes:
    • Doom portals must now be placed further from the shrine
    • Added new indicators to show valid locations for portal placement (particles, enchanted item)
    • Travelling through a doom portal now cancels creeper fuses, and places creeper explosions on a cooldown
    • Death's Servants now regenerate mana based on proximity to dwarves, rather than damage dealt
    • Death's Servants now have extra particle effects while they have an active doom portal open, to help identify the correct enderman
    • Doom portals now give mob spawn protection
  • Slabs can no longer be placed near doom portals or monster spawn
  • Reverted previous changes to hero spawning requirements

  • Added a new lobby NPC (Gazebob) with miscellaneous useful features
  • Added the ability to see player-profiles in-game via Gazebob, including other players' stats, achievements, unlocked titles and completed quests
  • Rats are now able to pick up dropped gold to prevent dwarves from depositing it into the shrine
  • Improved Rebirth to avoid players becoming glitched inside blocks
  • Fixed a bug where Doom Portals could make you lose your Doom Portal Orb if you died and respawned too quickly

  • Gold changes:
    • If you are carrying a significant amount of gold in your inventory, creeper explosions will force you to drop some of it
    • Destruction creepers with the Broodmother upgrade unlocked will cause you to drop more gold
    • Gold mined during build phase is now automatically deposited into the shrine
    • Gold mined after build phase can now only be deposited into the *active* shrine
  • Added monster upgrade refunds for skeleton and creeper, to allow you to choose a different upgrade path
  • Death's Servants now receive a mana boost for killing dwarves
  • Improved the end-game stats card, so it should show more relevant stats
  • End-game stats card now shows a summary of achievements earned in the game
  • Zombie, skeleton and creeper eggs in the monster menu now become shiny once the final upgrade is unlocked
  • Death's Servant egg in the monster menu now becomes shiny if you have enough mana to unlock it
  • Rats and broodmothers no longer need to be stood inside the shrine region in order to steal gold, and now use the same distance requirements as dwarves depositing

  • All monsters will receive a Doom Portal Orb on their hotbar when a Doom Portal opens, even if they're alive
  • Monsters are now invulnerable for 3 seconds when using a Doom Portal (up from 1)
  • Made Death's Servants more durable
  • Blaze Cannons regenerate more fuel when buffing monsters in small games
  • Monster spawn protection nausea now prevents dwarves from rolling powerful rampages
  • Roamin's Holy Purifier now has a fuel counter
  • Torches and vines can now be placed and broken in protected areas
  • Tweaked Super Creepers slightly to avoid them double/triple launching dwarves
  • Fixed an issue with the way shrine damage and shrine regen stats display
  • Requirements for Rapid Fire and Mana Guru achievements changed
  • Several achievements upgraded to rare
